Big Spender, If My Friends Could See Me Now, There’s Gotta Be Something Better Than This, I’m A Brass Band and Rhythm Of Life are just some of the hits to come from this wonderful score by Cy Coleman and Dorothy Fields.
Like Cy Coleman’s current hit on Broadway, THE LIFE, Sweet Charity is about the low life of New York. The book by Neil Simon is one of the funniest that the master of film and stage comedies has ever written for the musical stage. He also wrote the book for They’re Playing Our Song (CDJAY 1256).
Jacqueline Dankworth (daughter of Cleo Laine and John Dankworth) stars as Sweet Charity. She is supported by such Broadway and West End Stars as Gregg Edelman (currently on Broadway in "1776"), Josephine Blake (repeating her role in the West End production of Sweet Charity) Shezwae Powell and Ethan Freeman (currently in the West End production of Les Miserables)
This first complete recording includes as bonus tracks, songs written for the film version.
