Matt grew up on a farm north of Dayton, Ohio and is the oldest of four boys. Growing up, he enjoyed farm life, competitive sports and was introduced to the arts by his teacher and friend, Gail Brandewie, during his college preparatory years. He went on to major in Musical Theatre at Baldwin-Wallace College Conservatory in Cleveland, Ohio while playing on their renowned Division III football team. The double-life dream faded but his focus on the arts did not as he transfered to attend the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), continuing his training in Musical Theatre. He follows a list of great alumni such as Pamela Meyers, Lee Roy Reams, Faith Prince, Michelle Pawk, Jason Graae, and Jim Walton, to name a few. While attending Conservatory (CCM), Matt performed in Carousel, Two Gentlemen of Verona, Working and West Side Story. In 1994, his senior class of nine talented CCM graduates had the opportunity to perform a showcase in New York City for agents, casting directors and other industry personnel. Since this showcase, Matt humbly admits his good fortune as a working actor and is grateful for all his friends and family who have made the journey with him. Matt resides in Manhattan with his wife, actress/director/teacher Jessica (Boevers) Bogart.
